Intelligent Light's Applied Research Group has completed a 5-year CFD research projectfor the US Army's Vertical Lift Center of Excellence.
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) highlighted the work in their Access magazine. The project included the use of coupled Eulerian and vortex particle method codes to achieve the accuracy required to model the rotor and wake interactions. The vortex particle methods are computationally expensive and benefitted from HPC systems with GPU accelerators, a first for rotorcraft CFD code development. Read the full story.
