FieldView customer support and documentation engineer
Intelligent Light is seeking a talented and motivated individual at BS degree level (or above) to join the FieldView team as our customer support and documentation engineer. You will report to the FieldView product manager and be responsible for:
- pre- and post-sales customer support via email and direct telephone response
- tracking and documentation of support cases from opening through closure
- support database management and status reporting
- technical support to sales and marketing staff and international distributors
- customer training (occasional) on-site teaching involving travel
- development of course training notes and supporting tutorials
- authoring and updating FieldView user documentation, install and release notes, etc.
- installing, learning, operating, and testing many commercial CFD codes provided by CFD industry partners
- assisting with FieldView Q/A and testing
- staying abreast of the LINUX/UNIX workstation/PC hardware and graphics offerings
- creating tutorials and other training materials to help our customers
- small amounts of software development (converters, translators, etc.)
Required skills:
- minimum of two years experience with CFD analysis; experience with commercial solvers (Fluent, Star-CD, etc.). In-house/proprietary solver experience a plus
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- minimum of two years experience with LINUX/UNIX O/S and Windows/XP O/S
- technical writing (either product documentation or research papers)
- demonstrated experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Acrobat
Useful skills that may “make the difference” in our selection among candidates:
- work experience supporting users of scientific and engineering software
- experience with FieldView
- experience with other visualization and post-processing software such as Tecplot, EnSight, or Fluent-Post
- operational knowledge of commercial CFD codes (such as STAR-CD, FLUENT, CFX)
- computer graphics (OpenGL, virtual reality, graphics cards), hardware experience with SGI, HP, Sun, ATI, NVidia
- numerical programming in either FORTRAN or C
- MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Distiller, Adobe Photoshop
- web development and implementation experience (HTML, XML, CGI)
The above contract position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status due to the export control nature of certain projects. Salary is commensurate with experience.
